Le PHJIMU prévient les MST et le COVID 19 dans sa zone de rayonnement

Dans la perspective de prévenir contre les maladies sexuellement transmissibles et le COVID 19, dans la zone du projet, des ateliers de sensibilisation ont été organisés en faveur de 130 responsables locaux dans les collines de Muheka, Horezo et Songorero toutes de la zone de couverture du Projet Hydroélectrique de Jiji et Mulembwe (PHJIMU), dans les communes de Songa et Buyengero de la Province Bururi. Ces ateliers ont eu lieu en dates du 24, 25 et 26 mars 2020 respectivement pour les 3 localités, avec la facilitation de l’ONG locale AGAPE qui collabore avec le PHJIMU dans la mise en œuvre des Plans d’action de réinstallation (PAR) des personnes affectées par le projet (PAP) depuis le début du projet.

Les cibles de cette sensibilisation, chefs de zone et de collines, responsables des confessions religieuses, directeurs d’écoles et d’autres leaders communautaires sont renforcés dans leur capacité pour relayer l’information aux populations riveraines du projet en vue de les prévenir contre la contamination par ces maladies.

La zone du PHJIMU a été nouvellement investie par nombreux employés des sociétés locales et étrangères alignés aux travaux des aménagements hydroélectriques de Jiji et Mulembwe. Ces employés venus d’ailleurs avec des mœurs différents de ceux du milieu et ayant à leur disposition une masse monétaire inhabituelle dans le milieu risquent de surprendre les différentes catégories de la population, les catégories à risque étantcelles des femmes, des filles et des personnes vivant avec déficience mentale.

Ces catégories sont visées d’autant plus qu’elles sont acculées aux sollicitations des usagers de l’argent en matière du sexe surtout que ces employés hommes sont loin de leurs familles et donc de leurs conjointes. La préoccupation est ici de veiller à ce que le projet PHJIMU destiné à apporter le développement dans la zone ne soit pas en même temps occasion des situations catastrophiques suite à l’irresponsabilité et/ou la distraction des uns et des autres.

L’attention est portée sur le risque de contamination par les maladies sexuellement transmissibles comme l’hépatite A, B et C, la syphilis, la blennorragie et le VIH/SIDA. Les rapports sexuels non protégés sont aussi au rendez-vous des grossesses non désirées aux côtés des MST.

La population est aussi dans l’urgence de se protéger contre la pandémie du COVID 19 qui pourrait s’introduire dans cette zone par le biais de ces hôtes sur le chantier.

Bien connaitre les maladies pour s’en protéger.

Lors de l’atelier de sensibilisation sur la prévention contre les MST, les facilitateurs, Monsieur Gérard NKUNZIMANA et Jeanne d’Arc NEMEYIMANA de l’ONG AGAPEont exposé sur les symptômes de ces maladies visées, les voies de contamination et leur conséquence avant de mettre l’accent particulier sur les différentes méthodes de prévention spécifiques à chaque maladie.

Une  souffrance aigue, la pauvreté des ménages et la rupture des couples, l’angoisse et la mort imminente, l’infanticide et l’abandon scolaire, telle est une liste non exhaustive des dangers qui guettent les personnes qui contractent les maladies en objet. Il en est de même pour les jeunes filles sujettes aux grossesses non désirées tant sur le banc de l’école qu’au sein des ménages.

L’abstinence, la protection des rapports sexuels, le dépistage volontaire, la rupture contre le vagabondage sexuel sont les principales stratégies de prévention des maladies sexuellement transmissibles et les grossesses non désirées. Le dialogue parents-enfants, parents-enseignants est aussi mis à l’honneur pour cette thématique de la sexualité naguère taboue dans la culture burundaise en général et dans la localité du projet en particulier.

L’attention est aussi à porter sur les mesures de distanciation sociale, le lavage fréquent des mains et le recours aux structures de soins pour combattre le COVID 19 dans la zone du projet et chez les populations avoisinantes.

La parole aux participants.

Les participants n’ont pas manqué d’apporter leurs contributions en signe d’appréciation de l’atelier et des thèmes traités. Pour certains participants, les responsables locaux de l’administration doivent freiner les employés qui demandent en mariage des filles locales avec le risque d’abandonner mères et enfants à la fin du projet;  les sociétés de construction dans le PHJIMU doivent prendre des mesures intransigeantes pour que leurs employés respectent les mœurs du pays et que les contrevenants soient sévèrement punis conformément à la loi.

Pour d’autres leaders communautaires, des engagements ont été pris afin d’organiser des séances de sensibilisation des jeunes filles contre la sollicitation sexuelle. Aussi, des investigations seront menées pour déceler tous les cas d’irrégularités qui seraient liés aux activités du projet notamment les abandons scolaires pour embauche, le harcèlement sexuel par les employés du constructeur ou des sous-traitants afin de  rétablir l’ordre avant que la situation ne s’empire.

L’infirmier du Centre de santé de HOREZO, affirme que les MST sont une réalité dans localité et que les mesures d’accompagnement des malades et de la prévention sont mises en œuvre pour freiner la recrudescence de ces maladies.

Certains participants ont enfin exprimé le souhait pour des séances de sensibilisation de masses afin que de grands publics puissent bénéficier de ces informations en direct. Ce genre de sensibilisation devrait aussi concerner les employés du constructeur et des sous-traitants.
